National Hereford Show

Tenbury Show is proud to be hosting the 35th National Hereford Show

Mr Steve Edwards

Steve first became involved with the Hereford Breed, 46 years ago, when he started working for Mrs Hardy’s Beaudesert herd in Warwickshire. The herd had many successes, particularly at the Hereford Sales, with many prize winners and good prices. In 1977, he moved to Cosby, to join the newly established Costhorpe herd of the Coates family. Steve enjoyed instant success in the show ring, with the progeny of two BC bulls, quickly to be followed by more championships with the import of the Canadian bull, Remitall Monarch. Many more bulls were imported from Canada, Steve is a firm believer that the introduction of North American genetics in the early ‘80s rescued the herd and laid the foundation for the revival of “Herefords”, which we are all enjoying today.

With the demise of the Costhorpe herd in 2007, Steve introduced Pete Cobley and Ernie Colledge to the Hereford breed. Under his guidance, both the Kinglee and Hawkesbury herds have become prominent, not only in the sale ring, but especially winning many trophies at the major shows.
